Kings & Quadraphages

Learn this division I game (grades K-1)

Aim: To isolate the opponent’s king so he is unable to move.  Players take alternating turns and only have a maximum of 1 minute per turn. No taking back moves once hand leaves a piece.

A tie is when time have run out for both players before a win is called.


Playing time: 15 minutes

Number of players: 2 (red & blue)

Pieces: Each opponent has ONE king (red or blue pawn) and 30 Quadraphage chips (either red or blue).

How to play:

●Both kings are place on the square labeled with a crest (which are located on opposite ends of the board. The crests are not color specific). During the game this square is used like any other square on the board.

●The king can move to only one adjoining space at a time in any direction once square is not filled by a piece.

●Every time a King pawn is moved player can put a quadraphage chip on a square that prevents their opponent’s king from moving.

●Kings can move back and forth on the board to evade capture.

●Only one piece can occupy a space at a time.

Challenging a play: can occurs if a player takes back a move or breaks a rule. If challenge is successful the person who is challenged misses a turn.
